This article will take you through commonly asked questions for eScoring. These FAQs are broken down into before, during and after game processes.
Before the Match:
|I don't have access to the eScoring portal?
|Before you start eScoring, you need to make sure the club has added you as an eScoring admin.
Follow this guide on how to setup an eScoring admin.
|My match says it has already been started?
|It is really important to remember that if you are selecting teams in the days leading up to a match, it is best to do it via Game Day (Admin Portal) or MyTeams. Teams should only be entered via eScoring on the day of the match by the scorer.
In the case of being locked out of a match but you are the primary scorer, you should follow the match takeover process. You can find a guide here to help.
|We are scoring a junior formats game today, will the different scoring rules apply?
|Junior formats have a different set of scoring rules. Unlimited dismissals for a batter, limits on deliveries per over are just some examples.
For these to flow through to the eScoring portal, these rules need to be setup in the competition settings by the association. If you notice that something isn't being applied properly, please contact your competition administrator.
During the Match:
|How do I eScore? Is there any training available?
|PlayCricket Support & PlayHQ have created a few different resources that you can use to learn how to eScore. Take a look below and get yourself ready to eScore your first match.

|Our game from the weekend still says it is live, how do we close off an eScoring session correctly?
|An important step to eScoring is correctly closing off a match. If not done correctly, this will continue to show the game as live and potentially cause issues ahead of your next match.
This guide will step you through the best process in closing out a match.
|I am having trouble closing out a 2day+ game?
|There is one extra step you need to remember before closing out a 2day+ game.
You need to make sure that you are starting the 3rd innings before selecting options menu in the top left hand corner, then end game. Then you will make sure the results are synced and end the scoring session by following the prompts.
|I made a mistake and noticed it a few overs late. How do I edit a previous ball?
|All events are captured in the events log on the right-hand side of the scorers screen. To update an event, click on the 3 dots and select replace event. This will give you the option to replace with a run or extra.
|How do I update a wicket during a game?
|If you notice the mistake right away, you can click the undo button and replace the wicket straightaway.
All events are captured in the events log on the right-hand side of the scorers screen. To update a wicket, click on the 3 dots and select edit event. Depending on the wicket type, you will be able to update information of that event.
If it is too late to update on the eScoring platform, simply let your local administrator know, they can fix it via Game Day in the admin portal.
|There was a wicket and another event in the same delivery. How do we enter that in eScoring?
|A quick tip to remember is always click the wicket button first, this will give you all the options you need to add an extra or run. Just follow the wicket entry flow for all additional event options.
|If someone retires not out, can they be selected to come back once it's their turn again?
|Yes. Whether they have manually been retired not out -or- triggered by the junior format scoring settings. Once all other batters have had their hit, the retired batter can be selected to come back.
|How do I swap over a batter?
|If the wrong batter is accidentally, simply click on their name and change batter.
If the wrong batter is on strike, click on their name and select switch strike batter.
|We have had a rain effected match and want to use DLS. How do we do that?
|If the delay cuts short the first innings or occurs during the changeover of batting teams, the DLS will be available for selection on the innings settings screen.
If a break occurs during the second innings, enter the break via the action menu. Then select Adjust Parameters and enter the new over limit. Select DLS and update and resume to continue.
After the Match:
|We are in between days 1 and 2 and noticed some errors in the batting scores. How do we fix these up?
|If a game is being eScored and you notice an error, you will need to go back into the eScoring platform and make the edits via the scorecard.
Any edits in Game Day (Admin Portal) while a match is still being eScored can result in being locked out of eScoring the rest of the match.
|Our game has been completed but noticed an error in scorecard, but the game has been locked and I can't edit?
|Some associations/competitions will have a set timeframe in which you can edit results after a game. If it is locked, generally it is because this period has passed.
Associations/competitions can open up a match again for 24 hours to allow edits. It is best to get in contact with your competition admin to see if they can do this for you.
