Overview:
Suggested Setup:
For most associations, we recommend just setting up a Junior Competition and Senior Competition. A separate T20 Competition can be created if your T20 Competition requires pools.
The difference between Competitions, Grades and Game Types
Competition:
A competition is where all your grades are organised. For example, Seniors or Juniors. There can be an unlimited number of grades in a competition. When you set up a competition you will be asked to set up a number of default settings. However, these can be changed for each of the individual grades as required.
Grade:
A Grade is a group of teams that make up the grade. These grades can have their own individual settings. When creating your grades, the default settings you entered during your competition setup will be applied, and you can make changes to these if required.
Game Types:
There are three game types that you can choose from: 2day+, 1 day and T20 and you can choose all 3 within a grade. For example, if you have a grade that wish to play all three formats they will be able to do so. You will also be able to set the competition settings per the game types. If the grade only plays the one grade type, the other game settings can be ignored.
Why set up different competitions?
Competition Type:
Domestic: Matches in domestic competitions are played at venues linked to your association.
Home and Away: Matches in home and away competitions are played at venues related to the home team.
Tournament: Tournament style competition with Round-robin played as a group phase (with or without pools) and knockout style finals.
Formats:
When creating a competition, you will need to select a format, for example Junior or Senior.
Registration Forms:
Each competition set up will require a different registration for creation. If the club has a Senior and Junior competition in the same association, they will require separate registration forms. Registration forms may have different pricing.
Why limit the number of competitions?
Player Movement:
When a player registers for a competition, they can be added to any team within the competition at their club without needing a permit or transfer.
Ease of Administration:
It will limit the number of settings that need to be managed.
Reporting:
Reporting in PlayHQ is generally by competition and season. Rather than generating multiple reports, you can just select one or two competitions.
