Clause 10 of Australian Cricket’s Looking after our Kids code of behaviour outlines the expectations of clubs and associations intending to livestream any cricket activities with Children or Young People involved.
The PlayHQ video streaming consent capture in the registration form has been implemented to support clubs and associations to meet these requirements but it does not replace the need for clubs and associations to inform parents and guardians of the following:
- details of the match or matches that the Affiliated Association or Club intends to livestream;
- where and how the match/matches will be livestreamed (for example, via Facebook Live, Youtube or other platform);
- who will have access to the livestream;
- whether the recorded footage may be used for any other purposes (for example, for promotional, commercial or educational reasons or for disciplinary reasons should the footage show a breach of competition rules);
- the ability to withdraw this consent at any time and provide details as to how they can do this; and
- any other relevant details with respect to the livestream.
An email template for club and association use to communicate these items can be found here
Clubs and associations must ensure that they also have the following measures in place:
- a process for reporting and managing complaints regarding livestreaming that is communicated to participants and their parents
- ensure that they can remove any content stored or posted online in the case that a report is made about the footage
- videographers or video editors involved in livestreaming hold working with children checks (or equivalent) and ensure videographers or video editors have agreed in writing that they will only use the footage for purposes that have been agreed by the club and association.
Children or Young People means any person under the age of 18.
