This article will cover the following:
- What is profile claiming and when does it occur.
- How to claim a matching profile using "Find My Profiles".
- Requesting support to claim a matching profile.
What is profile claiming?
PlayHQ account holders can claim and merge duplicate profiles that already exist within the platform.
Duplicate profiles can arise for several reasons, including:
- Creating a new account when one already exists.
- Multiple account holders (e.g., parents) registering the same dependent (e.g., child) under their individual accounts.
- Dependents creating their own personal accounts as they turn 18.
- Participant profiles that were imported from previous systems or legacy platforms.
During the registration process, duplicate profiles are identified and offered for merging. Additionally, the "Find My Profiles" tool allows users to claim and merge profiles outside of the registration process.
Duplicate profile criteria
PlayHQ searches for duplicate profiles that match a combination of:
- First name
- Last name
- Gender
- Date of Birth
Duplicate profiles will not be visible if:
- The profile to claim is a primary profile, and the profile logged into is a dependant profile.
- The profile to claim has had admin access at any time.
Claiming a Profile via Find My Profiles
1) Login to PlayHQ and visit your profile via clicking My Account under your name in the top right corner
2) Scroll down and click Get Started under Find My Profiles
3) Select the profile which you want to search for duplicate profiles, or select to find a profile which is not listed
4) Confirm your First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth and Gender are correct. If these details are incorrect please contact your sport to request your details be updated. Enter the sporting organisation where you believe a duplicate profile has previously registered, and search
5) If you do not find a duplicate profile, go back and edit your search criteria or submit a ticket request with us.
If you do find a duplicate profile, verify the profile via email or mobile.
An email or text message with a verification code is sent to the account holder of the profile to be claimed. The account holder is required to provide the verification code to the account holder attempting to claim the profile.
6) Once the profile has been claimed, click continue and go back to your profile. Once a profile is claimed, PlayHQ will merge any registration history (across all sports), player stats, transfer history and all other details to the profile that is logged into.
